Lucy
Lucy is a very friendly, active, bouncy girl who loves to go for long
walks. She is outgoing and friendly towards people and has a lot of love to give.
We think her ideal home would be with someone who enjoys long walks and can provide three of them per day. And, of course, lots and lots of love and a lifetime of security for this wonderful girl whose had a rough start.
If you think you're that person, please fill out the application on our site and send it in.
This photo was taken while Lucy was at the shelter, before being groomed. No more current photo is available since her grooming.

Bob
Bob and his sister Dolly lost their home when their
mom passed away. Her family brought these adorable
babies to the shelter to be euthanized. These dogs were
so sweet and healthy that the shelter staff called us to say
they couldn't bring themselves to put these babies down, and asked if we would take them in for placement.
Bob and Dolly are now being fostered together by Katie, our volunteer. Katie tells us they play together like two wind-up
toys and are very lovable.
Bob is quiet and well behaved. As soon as he gets over his
kennel cough, we will have a complete dentistry done.
He's been neutered and vaccinated and appears to have no health issues.
Our first choice would be to find these tinies a home together.
But we are also considering exceptional homes that are available to either one. The ideal home would be with a mature couple or individual who has had tiny dogs in the past and understands their special needs and gentle handling. These dogs require professional grooming, so whomever adopts them should be prepared for this monthly expense.

Snowball
Snowball is a Chihuahuafor the Chihuahua aficionado! He is very shy
and suspicious of strangers. Once you have proven yourself to Snowby, as we call him, his heart is yours forever!
When his former owner passed away, her husband severely abused little Snowball, so he needs time, love and patience before he can trust people.
Snowby's Favorite Things: Sitting on your lap and listening to
conversation, cuddling under the covers with you at night and playing with his stuffed bear.
He is so eager to please and is both housebroken and indoor pad trained. Snowby would do best in a home where there is not a lot of traffic. (He is very protective of his person and home.) He'd also love to go for regular walks as he's curious about what's going on in the world.
Please Note: Snowball has bitten when frightened by strangers. He needs someone who is experienced with an abused, fearful dog and will give him the confidence and love he so desperately deserves. If you're the kind of person who knows Chihuahuas and is willing to put in some patience for a lifetime of love, this is the boy for you.

Maxine
Maxine is a quiet, affectionate, devoted little girl who we
found at the local shelter. The photo here is before she
had her hair removed as it was matted and unsalvageable.
Right now she's in a very short puppy cut, but is clean and
comfortable.
Maxine is extremely smart and well behaved. She adores
her foster mom as she knows we stood by her when she was
ill and homeless. She has big, soul-piercing eyes and will do whatever she can to please. She is housebroken and very friendly and affectionate. She is friendly with cats.
We've seen this baby through some rough days. Now we're looking for only the best and most committed forever home for her. If you can give this girl a lifetime of love and care, we want to hear from you.

Geoffrey
Geoffrey is one fabulous little boy!
He is friendly and very affectionate. His favorite thing
(besides walks) is to cuddle in your arms with his head
on the pillow. Everyone he meets, falls in love with
him!
He is
housebroken AND wee wee pad trained. Because he is
young, he does need lots of exercise. We believe basic
obedience classes would go a long way towards the
bonding experience between him and his new person.
If you're someone who likes going for
long walks, and you're home most of the time (or can
take your dog to work), Geoffrey could be the perfect
match. Because he is so young, we would like to find
Geoffrey a home where his person can be with him much of
the time.
If you believe you
are the perfect match for our boy, please let us know.

GiGi
FROM GIGI'S FOSTER MOM:
GiGi is a sweet, loving girl with an amazing
personality. She is laid back and quiet most of the time.
She likes to hang out with her person and cuddle while
watching tv or sitting on the porch. My favorite thing about
her is her complete excitement over her whole body when I
come home. I get down to her level then she jumps up and
hugs me, both paws around my neck while she smothers me with
kisses!
She is protective of her people among strangers. She
growls to let visitors know they must wait to be "approved"
by her. Once she is greeted properly (to her standards!),
then all is well and she wants to be friends.
She is housebroken
and should be walked on a strict schedule. (When left alone
inside for long periods of time, she can have accidents.)
GiGi does not do well in crates for more than a short while.
She knows "sit" so far and we are working on other
commands but she is a very intelligent girl so additional
training will be a breeze. She walks well on a leash and
comes when she is called. She would do well with an
obedience class which would help her with her bonding to her
new person.
GiGi is the sweetest most loving dog! She will be
terribly missed when she is placed. She loves to cuddle and
would do well if she was an only dog to be spoiled rotten.
She is a groomer's dream - no problems getting her bath,
etc. She doesn't care much to have her face touched but I
think this is standard for this breed. She will require a
trip to the groomers at least once a month to keep her coat
mat free. If placed with children, I would recommend older
children. She does well with my 12 year old son. She is a
joy to have here and I hope she finds a home that will suit
her personality. One that will spoil her and fuss over her
constantly. |

Jack
Jack, named by his foster mom after
Jack Nicholson for his "grumpy" look and mussed up hair,
is typical "boy" being playful, fun and silly. He loves
to play fetch.
Jack is happy to
sleep in his own bed next to yours and is not interested
in getting up on the furniture. This may be because he
has no sight in one eye, which our vet says is due to a
blow administered by someone in his past. Otherwise, his
health is perfect.
Jack is a "love-bug" to quote his
foster mom, wanting to stay close all the time. Like his
namesake, Jack can be a little snippy at times. His
foster family has been working hard on this and have
seen a huge improvement during the short time he's been
with them. His vet believes that with continued work,
Jack will become even more trusting of people.
Jack is housebroken and needs a
regular walking schedule. He walks well on a leash, very
noble and proud, and prefers to stay close while
outside. He knows "sit" and "down" and we are working on
other commands but he is a highly intelligent guy so
additional training should be a breeze. He would
definitely benefit from an obedience class with his new
person. This will establish the order of their household
and relationship. He does not like to be crated at all.
A special note from Jack's Foster
Mom: Jack has made so much progress since coming to me.
It has been a real joy watching him transform from a
snippy crab into a loving sweetheart. His personality is
ever changing so it is difficult to explain him
perfectly. He had such a rough start that everyday he
blossoms even more and surprises us.
Originally, he couldn't stand my
husband but since that first weekend, they are really
good buddies! He gets along with both men and women.
We will need to make
sure that his new owners are experienced with dogs and
are prepared to continue working with him to improve his
relationship with people. A basic obedience class (to
establish the relationship) is highly recommended.
This boy makes the
rewards so worthwhile! |

Cassie
If you're looking for the most
affectionate, loving, cuddliest dog in the world, here
she is!
Cassie LOVES to be held in your
arms and will stay there
for hours if she can. She is a healthy,
incredibly tempered dog who was born blind.
We don't know much about her past, but we do know
someone gave her lots of love because of the way she
trusts everyone.
Cassie is housebroken and wee wee pad trained. She does
LOVE to go for walks and explore all the scents at the
park. Cassie gets along well with cats. This girl has
so much love to give to some lucky person. Please
remember, while she gets around on her own once she
knows the layout, she is blind.

Clifford

Clifford lost his home when his mom moved to an
apartment that didn't allow dogs. He
is an incredibly sweet, good-natured, very shy little
boy. He is extremely responsive to gentle handling and a
soft voice. He has been wee wee pad trained and loves to
go for long walks. We don't believe he had many walks
in his previous home as he is very curious about
everything he comes upon and is a bit startled by loud
noises (trucks, fire engines, sirens, etc.)
Because he is so shy, we think he'd do best in a home
where he is the only dog. His brother did bully him and
would chase him back into the closet when he came out.
Clifford is good with cats. This boy is a very gentle
soul and would do best, we think, in a home where there
is not a lot of activity with people coming and going.
He needs a nurturing, loving forever home where he will
be given confidence and lots of love.

Cookie
Cookie is a gentle, friendly girl who gets along with everyone. She is quiet and well behaved, using both indoor "pads" and going outside.
This little girl was ill when we rescued her from the shelter, but she is now healthy and vaccinated. Due to poor nutrition prior to coming to us, her coat is a little shabby, but is beginning to come in thick and shiny. She will be a real beauty in very little time.

Jessie
If you want a dog to jog with, chase a ball endlessly,
yet cuddle with when you're watching tv or on the computer,
Jessie's your girl. Jessie has lots and lots of energy
to play. She walks at a fast pace and is always ready
for fun. She would not be a match for a "couch potato."
She's
housebroken and very friendly with people and even cats.
She'd do best in a home with a male terrier or as the
only dog. (She can get bossy sometimes with the other
girls and even with the more passive males.)
She's
easy maintenance in terms of grooming - basically "wash
and wear" and would be ideal for an active adult household.
(We haven't seen her with kids, but just seeing her dominance
with other females and passive males, we think she'd be
better in an adult home.)

These incredibly sweet brothers love everyone - people, cats and dogs!
Right now they need one special person
to give them a forever home. If you've got one to offer, please

more thrilled with him! He keeps
all the orphans entertained with his antics.) Dina at
